2025 Miami GP - All the numbers that matter this weekend

Miami F1 Track & Grandstand Guide | Miami International Autodrome | Miami Race Track

Miami brings the heat - both on and off the track - as Formula 1 returns to South Florida for the first U.S. race of the 2025 season. With its beachside buzz, A-list crowds, and high-stakes racing, Miami has become one of the sport’s most talked-about venues on the calendar.

Winding its way around Hard Rock Stadium, the circuit blends tight technical sectors with overtaking opportunities, often delivering unpredictable outcomes (like Norris' win last year). This weekend also brings with it the season’s second Sprint weekend, offering drivers and teams less room for error - and more chances to shake up the standings.

With momentum shifting rapidly in the title race and the spotlight firmly on Miami, here are all the key numbers you need ahead of the weekend.

About the event

  • This will be the 80th World Championship round held in the United States, moving it ahead of Germany and the UK (both with 79). Only Italy has hosted more (107).

  • Miami will host the second of six F1 Sprint weekends in 2025, and it will be the 20th Sprint race in F1 history.

About the circuit

  • The Miami track typically features some of the highest top speeds of the season. Last year, it ranked sixth in terms of top speed, with the races in Mexico City (362.5 kph), Azerbaijan (357.7 kph), Belgium (357.2 kph), Italy (357.1 kph), and Las Vegas (356.4 kph) recording higher speeds.

  • No driver has scored pole twice at Miami. The three pole-sitters so far have been Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen.

  • Every Miami GP winner has started from beyond the front row and from odd-numbered grid positions only (P3, P9, and P5).

  • The pole-sitter has always finished second, and the driver starting second has always finished third.

  • Miami is now one of six circuits whose first three races were not won from pole position. The others are Jarama, Montjuic, Anderstorp, Yeongam, and Imola, the venue of the next race.

Why the F1 Miami Grand Prix Looks Like the Future of Racing

About Sprint races

  • Max Verstappen leads all drivers with 11 Sprint wins and 117 Sprint points - the only driver with over 100. He’s the only one to score points in all 19 Sprint races so far.

  • Other Sprint race winners include Valtteri Bottas (2), Oscar Piastri (2), George Russell (1), Sergio Perez (1), Lando Norris (1), and Lewis Hamilton (1).

  • Only Verstappen and Bottas have back-to-back Sprint wins. Lewis Hamilton could join that list with a victory in Miami.

  • Verstappen has led more Sprint laps (200) than the rest of the grid combined (183). If he leads 3 laps in Miami, he’ll hit 1,000 km led in Sprint races.

  • Red Bull is the only team to score points in every Sprint so far and leads with 22 Sprint podiums - more than Ferrari and Mercedes combined (21).

  • Verstappen has finished in the top-three in 16 of the 19 Sprint races. The exceptions were São Paulo (P4 in 2022 and 2024) and Qatar (P8 in 2024).

About form and streaks

  • The last eight Grands Prix - from Las Vegas 2024 onwards - have all been won from the front row of the grid.

  • Only Piastri and Russell have finished in the top-five in every race (including Sprints) in 2025 so far.

  • All full-season drivers on the 2025 grid have scored points at Miami before - except the rookies. Verstappen and Leclerc are the only drivers with multiple podiums here.

About Red Bull

  • Max Verstappen has won two of the three Miami GPs (2022, 2023) and is the only driver to finish on the podium every year - always in the top-two.

  • He has led 106 laps in Miami, more than the rest of the grid combined (65).

  • If Verstappen leads 18 laps in Miami, he’ll move ahead of Sebastian Vettel into third place on the all-time laps led list in Formula 1 only behind Lewis Hamilton (5487 laps) and Michael Schumacher (5111).

  • A win for Verstappen would be his seventh in the United States - joining Schumacher and Hamilton as the only drivers to win seven or more in a single country.

  • If he finishes on the podium, it’ll be the 116th of his career, tying Schumacher’s tally with Ferrari and making him joint-second for most podiums with a single team.

About McLaren

  • If Oscar Piastri wins in Miami, it’ll mark his first run of three consecutive F1 victories after wins in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

  • Only 21 drivers in F1 history have won three races in a row - 20 of whom became World Champions. Stirling Moss is the sole exception.

  • No McLaren driver has won three consecutive races since Oscar Piastri was born in 2001. On Sunday, he could become the first one in nearly 30 years to do so, with the last being Mika Hakkinen across the 1997 and 1998 seasons.

  • McLaren has taken 11 race wins in the turbo-hybrid era, each at a different venue. A victory this weekend would mark the team’s first repeat venue win since 2014.

  • Piastri is yet to score Grand Prix points in Miami but earned three Sprint points here in 2024.

  • Lando Norris is undefeated in qualifying at Miami, holding a 3–0 record against his teammates at this track.

About Mercedes

  • No Mercedes driver has ever qualified in the top-five at Miami.

  • That said, George Russell has qualified and finished in the top-five at every race and Sprint in 2025 so far.

  • Mercedes has never scored a podium in Miami; their best result is P4 (Russell, 2023).

About Ferrari

  • Charles Leclerc has secured a pole position at each of the three current circuits in the United States - Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas, making him the only driver to do so.

  • Leclerc has never finished higher than where he started at Miami.

  • Miami is the only one of the 38 tracks Hamilton has raced on where he has never finished inside the top-four. He has finished P6 in every edition of the Miami GP.

  • Alongside Miami, Zandvoort and Las Vegas are the only current tracks where Hamilton has never won.

About Williams

  • No Williams driver has ever reached Q3 at the Miami Grand Prix.
