Mercedes bounced back in style in Montreal. After a tough triple-header, they delivered a surprise double podium, showing pace even the McLarens couldn’t match. The race built up slowly but ended in drama, with a three-way fight for the podium and a costly clash that ended Lando Norris’ day.

Plenty of action, and plenty of stats to go with it, here are the key numbers from the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix.

About the Event

  • This was the ninth consecutive Canadian Grand Prix to be won from the front row, with seven of those victories coming from pole position.

  • Four teams have taken double podiums in the last 12 months - McLaren (10), Ferrari (3), Mercedes (2), Alpine (1). Red Bull’s last double podium came in April 2024 in China.

  • The podium of George Russell, Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli had a combined average age of 24 years, 7 months and 12 days - the ninth-youngest podium in Formula 1 history.

  • We’ve now seen three drivers take hat-tricks in three consecutive races - Norris in Monaco, Piastri in Spain, and Russell in Canada. This is the first time in Formula 1 history that three non-world champions have taken hat-tricks in consecutive races.

  • It’s only the second time ever that three different drivers have taken hat-tricks in three straight races. The only previous occurrence was across the 2021–2022 season (Lewis Hamilton in Saudi Arabia, Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi, Charles Leclerc in Bahrain).

About Mercedes

  • George Russell took the 4th win of his career and his first of the 2025 campaign, with his last coming in Las Vegas 2024. He now ties with Carlos Sainz, Dan Gurney, Bruce McLaren and Eddie Irvine on four career wins.

  • Russell has now finished on the podium five times this season, more than the four podiums he managed across the entire 2024 season.

  • Three of Russell’s four wins have come in the Americas - Brazil (2022), Las Vegas (2024), and now Canada (2025).

  • This was Russell’s first-ever hat-trick in Formula 1.

  • With P3 at the age of 18 years, 9 months and 21 days, Kimi Antonelli became the third-youngest driver to stand on a Formula 1 podium. Only Lance Stroll and Max Verstappen were younger when they first finished on the podium.

  • Antonelli is the first Italian to finish on the podium since Jarno Trulli at the 2009 Japanese Grand Prix.

  • The previous youngest Italian podium finisher was Elio de Angelis, aged 21 years and 10 months, in Brazil 1980.

  • Every driver to have started more than one race for Mercedes has now stood on the podium at least once.

  • Mercedes as a team has stood on the podium at every Canadian GP since 2013.

  • Mercedes scored more points in Canada (40) than they managed across the last triple-header of Imola, Monaco and Spain combined (18).

  • All three Mercedes-affiliated drivers stood on the podium at Canada - Doriane Pin (P1 and P3), George Russell (P1), and Kimi Antonelli (P3).

About McLaren

  • Oscar Piastri’s P4 finish brought an end to his eight-race podium streak, which began in China. It ties him with Ayrton Senna for the second-longest podium streak for McLaren, behind only Lewis Hamilton, who had nine in a row at the start of his career in 2007.

  • Piastri now remains as the only driver to have scored points in every race this season, including Sprints.

  • This was also his 28th consecutive points finish, moving him ahead of Kimi Raikkonen for fifth on the all-time list of consecutive points scored in Grands Prix.

  • Lando Norris retired from the race following a late collision with Piastri, marking his first DNF since Austria 2024.

  • Each of Norris’ last four DNFs have been due to collisions or accidents - Canada 2025, Austria 2024, Miami Sprint 2024, and Las Vegas 2023. His last mechanical DNF came in Sao Paulo 2022.

  • Norris’ DNF ended McLaren’s streak of 22 consecutive races without a DNF - the longest in the team’s history.

  • It also brought an end to McLaren’s 11-race podium streak, which had begun at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix.

  • This was the first time in the 2025 season that neither McLaren driver stood on the podium.

About Red Bull

  • Max Verstappen finished P2, marking the first time he hasn't won the Canadian Grand Prix in the ground effect era.

  • Verstappen’s podium at Montreal was the 117th of his career, moving him ahead of Michael Schumacher’s tally with Ferrari (116). He now sits outright second for the most podiums with a single team, behind only Hamilton with Mercedes.

  • Tsunoda has now finished three consecutive races without scoring, the first time that’s happened for a Red Bull driver in 16 years. The last instance was Mark Webber, who failed to score in China 2008, Brazil 2008, and Australia 2009.

  • It’s now been 13 months and 34 races (including Sprints) since Max Verstappen’s teammate finished in the top five. The last was Sergio Perez with P4 in Miami 2024. Since then, Verstappen has taken 26 top-five finishes on his own.

About Ferrari

  • Charles Leclerc finished P5, meaning that whenever he’s finished a race in Canada for Ferrari, he’s always ended up in the top five.

  • P6 is Lewis Hamilton’s worst ever finish at the Canadian GP in 16 appearances. This was also the first time he finished a race here but didn’t end up in the top five.

  • For the first time in his 19-year F1 career, Hamilton has gone the opening 10 races of a season without standing on the podium.

  • They’re also the only team this season without a single race retirement.

  • This was also the first time this season that Sainz has been the only Williams driver to score points in a race.

About Haas

  • Esteban Ocon finished P9, scoring Haas’s first points at the Canadian Grand Prix since 2017.

  • Ocon maintains a 100% points-scoring record at the Canadian GP, having finished in the points in all of his races at the circuit.

  • This was Ocon’s fourth points finish of the season, just one fewer than his entire 2024 tally. He already has 22 points from 10 rounds, compared to 23 in all of last year.

  • Every constructor that has completed 200 Grands Prix under their current name has scored points in their 200th race.
