I’m excited to share a first look at the new character creator
Creating your character is one of the first steps in beginning a new adventure, so I wanted this feature to feel more personal than simply choosing a name and jumping into the game. The character creator gives players the opportunity to shape their appearance and create someone who feels like their own.
The screenshot shows the current version of the creator. It’s still being developed, so the interface, available options, and artwork may continue to change as the game grows. There’s already a solid foundation in place, and I’m looking forward to expanding it with more customization choices and additional polish.
Building this feature has involved more than just creating a new screen. The selected appearance needs to be stored correctly, displayed throughout the game, and continue to work as more character options are added in the future. It’s another important piece of the foundation that will support the larger world of Progress Lands.
My goal is to offer enough variety for characters to feel distinct while keeping the creation process clear and enjoyable. I don’t want players to feel overwhelmed before they’ve even entered the world!
