Fish Market

Jul 02, 2025

Early start this morning, Normally Tuesdays isn't a day we get up early as it's Nat's day off but today we wanted to visit the Ching fish market which is near Phuket International Airport & Mai Khao beach. I've been trying to film this market area for a while now but as the market relies on the local fisherman & fishing community to supply the market with fresh fish during low season when the weather is very unpredictable the fisherman may not go out fishing meaning the market does not take place.

Luckily this morning there's a small side market, well it's more like a collection of mobile vendors mainly samlor's which means we can grab something to eat as once again the fish market isn't open, one of the vendors told Nat that the last few days has been very windy so no fishing.

The fish market is held in the Sirinat national park but as it's a early start 6am there's not charge to enter but you really need to get there before 8am or you may encounter staff at the entrance to the park wanting to charge you, being a foreigner it's not cheap unlike the Thai fee of just 20 baht foreigners can be charged up to 400 baht so keep this in mind.

As we were leaving around 8.30 staff were trying to charge a couple of foreigners on push bikes to enter but they ended up turning around. Personally I don't agree with the dual pricing policies of national parks especially when some national parks charge foreigners 20 times the price a Thai would pay.

We ended up having coconut cakes, banana fritters & fish curry wrapped in a banana leaf but the best part was the view.

The Video of our visit can be seen here :

Shortly after we arrived back home it started to rain and got quite heavy in the afternoon so the rest of the day was spent doing jobs around the home including bathing shadow 😂
