When looking for a mic for your show, zoom calls or just to be a guest on your favorite YouTube show we all want to sound good, but we don't want to break the bank to do it. When I first started doing YouTube 4 months ago I bought a 20$ mic on amazon that came with a boom arm. It got me started but I still wasn't happy. At the time I was using a windows gaming pc. My next upgrade was the Yeti X which is Mac daddy of the yeti mics that you can buy at you local Best Buy. A month later I swaped out my pc for the M1 Mac mini, just to find that the Logitech app "that the Yeti X and the Logitech Brio webcam use" doesn't work on apple silicon. as of this writing the firmware has still not been released. After all that I had enough and was determined to save my money up for a really good mic. I picked the Shure SM7B because its a mic that will last me for years and sounds amazing. Now I know that not everyone can spend 400$ on a mic and also 300$ for an audio interface and pre amp. If I knew what I knew today back then I would of went a different route. Today I would go for the Rode PodMic. it doesn't sound as good as the Shure SM7B but it does sound great. it doesn't need a preamp, but pre amps always do help. however it still needs a audio interface since it requires a XLR Cable. At only 99$ for a mic that sounds almost as good as the SM7b and way better than the Yeti, id say that right now is the best mic for the money. So, with that I plan I picking one up to test for future videos. if anyone else is interested in this pod mic ill put together a build list for you as to what I recommend you get on a budget to get the best sound out of your set up.
