As the name implies, BAFS is a basic automatic filament switch, it's only does one thing, and one thing only: switching filaments.
The concept is simple, you have a 3d printer, it's already have an extruder, meaning you have a stepper motor for that. BAFS extends that one stepper motor to be able to extrude more than one filament by just adding extension shaft, more gears, and more levers.
The rest is making it work by adding, removing, modifying one part at a time.
For example, we need something to hold the shaft, and the arms. And the old mount for the stepper probably won't make it, so we need to consider that too.
I came up with this design.
That's it for now. On the next post, I will explain more details about it.
Stay tunes for updates.
