Beginnings

Jan 18, 2022

I'm no writer, first and foremost. I'm a rambler. More in the figurative sense than the literal one, more's the pity!

I've just moved home. Granted it's the 10th move of my married life but this is the big one, the one we dreamed of, the one we have high hopes for. We're in Northumberland, a place we've been visiting and loving for nigh on 20 years. This place is truly food for my soul. A walk on a Northumberland beach is food for anyone's soul let's face it, but I want to keep it quiet so don't tell anyone ok?!

A smooth start it has not been! A house that wasn't ready for habitation when you arrive around tea-time on a dark, dank December day with three dogs and a mud-bath for an unsecured garden turned glee to glum quicker than dropping your mobile phone down the loo!!

My husband and I have truly reached new heights of stress ... and with our history we thought we'd experienced most! This year god willing, we'll celebrate 25 years of happy marriage ... however the past two months have been anything but! We've argued like never before with the continuous circle of problems and although we are still far from out of the woods with things being done on the new house, we are thankfully back to being our stupid daft selves most of the time with our four legged gang of three.

So now is the time to start enjoying all this stuff and so far we've had a few trips out to local beaches, some known to us, some not ... but all absolutely stunning in true Northumbrian breath-taking style! The dogs are in their element ... well two of them are but the young Galgo, Barclay, is experiencing a bit of sensory overload both loving it and threatening to boil over with nervous anticipation at the same time so the avoidance of a daily meltdown is our current goal. He also has a serious aversion to travelling (a long story for another day) so we are working hard to re-programme his experiences of being loaded into a truck. Daily progress is being made, beaches are being enjoyed, the rambler has written her first post and the adventure is (hopefully!) beginning ...
