While we are not industry professionals (and therefore not charging industry rates), editors get better by editing, and the quality of the work in our anthology will be reflected in your provided feedback. Published, unpublished, and newly starting writers are all encouraged to submit.
Each purchase of 1 'editing services' includes:
1 round of SUBSTANTIVE (i.e. content) editing - this includes things like overall plot, character development, themes, dialogue, author voice, etc. This will not include copy edits, proofreading, fact checking, or other editing services. As such, most of the edits will be in the form of margin comments, with some cuts/changes in the document itself.
SUBMISSION RULES
Each editing service lets you submit ONE work for ONE round of feedback. Please purchase the service that matches your word count (i.e. up to 1k, 1-2k, or 2-3.5k). Works that do not follow these guidelines will not be read and orders will be refunded.
If you would like multiple rounds of feedback, you must purchase additional editing services. As long as you are submitting a revision of a work you have gotten feedback from us on already, you can select the 'revised draft' service and get a discount on the edits.
All prose submissions must be double spaced, 1" margins, no space between paragraphs, indented paragraphs. Poetry pages must have 1" margins. Times New Roman size 12 is preferred for font.
All files must be .docx or .pages; we do not accept PDF, Google Docs, old .doc files, or other file formats. Incorrect file formats will not be opened or read and may result in your service being refunded.
Note that this means we are currently unable to accept concrete or shape poetry or anything that requires advanced formatting.
All edits will be done through the Track Changes function within your document. Editors will make changes and leave comments on the document, which will be emailed to you when finished. Note that we cannot answer any questions or provide further edits unless you pay for additional editing fees.
Turn around time will vary depending on how many people we are editing for, but we are currently aiming for no longer than 2 weeks before edits are returned to you. If you need them sooner, please provide a desired date in the "Enter your request" field on the commission form and we will see if we can accommodate. We require a minimum of 7 days.

SENDING US YOUR WORK
1. At the time of purchase, you will be able to upload your .docx or .pages file via the attachment option. Please name your file as firstnamelastname_title.
2. In the "Enter your request" field on the commission form, please provide:
the genre of the work (poetry, prose poetry, nonfiction, fiction) and in the case of fiction, a subgenre if relevant (mystery, romance, scifi, etc)
a 5 sentence or less summary of your work (descriptions of themes and images are fine for poetry without storylines)
for prose pieces, your word count (not including title/author name)
you can include a little bit about yourself as a writer if you would like, but it's not mandatory
As a general rule, we will comment/make changes throughout the document on various aspects of the work, but if there is anything of particular concern you want special attention paid to, you can mention this here
Your email address, so we know where to send your edits when we are done (and how to contact you to arrange a meeting time if you have purchased the consult and/or debrief add-on)

BOOK A MEETING
If you want to talk to your editor about your piece, you can purchase meetings at the same time you purchase an editing service. You can choose CONSULT (PRE-EDIT) to talk to your editor before they read your work and/or DEBRIEF (POST-EDIT) to talk to your editor after they have read your work and returned your edits. You can pick from either one, or both if you want.
