Don’t worry I’m not yet giving up my mountain hikes 😅. However, due to being so busy with other life commitments, I have recently found myself visiting a number of my local nature reserves, rather than heading on my usual hikes further afield.
It’s been really nice to spend time bird watching and working on my photography. I must admit despite living in the North East of England for some time I haven’t actually explored many of my local reserves. But in the last few months it’s been great getting out for relaxing short wanders in nature.

Todays short explore was at Low Barn Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. It is actually only about 20 minutes from my house, so I was surprised I hadn’t visited previously. It was also a lot bigger than I expected and had about five different bird hides overlooking the lakes.

June sure has been a rather gloomy month so far and today was no different. The clouds were very grey and it rained on and off throughout my walk.

I can hardly blame the birds for hiding away in the trees and reed beds today. Yet the flowers and insects seemed to be plentiful. So I still enjoyed getting out and snapping a few pics. The Daisy’s looked especially beautiful to me today, I loved the rain drops that sat on their petals.
