This is an update I didn't want to give. You may remember that our Precious kitty was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in her lower jaw. Precious was rescued by Alex when he was 19 years old, so Alex and Precious have been companions for 16 years. We were working with the oncology team at UF to surgically remove the tumor and a significant part of her lower jaw early next week. Unfortunately a previously undiagnosed AV block was discovered during her workup and it did not respond to the medication used to manage this condition during surgery. This made anesthesia very risky for Precious and there was a significant chance of her passing away during her CT or surgery. Her new diagnosis combined with the rapid growth of her oral tumor made it unlikely that surgery would have a positive outcome for our girl. We made the difficult decision to bring Precious home and help her enjoy her last days with her family. She will be spoiled with treats, cuddles and supervised outdoor adventures until the end.
