So, I didn't come anywhere near my goal of making August my best month yet in terms of writing. Too many things have popped up, from new client projects to taking care of the kids. But you know, that's OK. Because everything that took my time away from writing was an exceptionally good cause.
Still, it would be nice to have a solid week of getting personal projects done without distractions or back pain.
In any case, I'm still going to work toward ending August on a high note.
With that being said...
Finally Got a New Chair!
Part of my issues as of late has been severe back troubles. Between my old office chair and my bed, it's been difficult to stay focused throughout the day without wincing in pain. Yeah, my memory foam bed "remembered" to be a brick.
In any case, I finally got my new office chair this week. I actually ordered one off of Walmart.com, and it sat in Denver for three weeks. The delivery company was one I've never heard of and their excuse as to why it couldn't be delivered was, "a lack of staff." We even tried to tell them we'll come and get it.
Anyway, they issued a refund and I just went to Costco to pick up a new chair. It's not exactly the one I wanted, but it's made a vast improvement. It just goes to show how much of an impact a semi-comfortable chair can make in your daily productivity as a writer.
Chaos Reigns Supreme
As I said, my month has been plagued by a slew of random encounters. Then again, what else is new? I've talked about this many times before; people just don't realize the complications that can arise when working from home. It doesn't take much to throw your day into chaos, especially when you have so much going on.
I've been working full-time from home since 2013, and I truly miss the days of going to the office and being social. Not to mention that it can ultimately change your view of your home.
Instead of looking at your residence as an escape from the trappings of work, it's now associated with work itself. So, you no longer have the same viewpoint of escapism as opposed to working a traditional job outside of the house.
At any rate, I'll just keep doing what I can to live with the chaos, as always.
Starting the New Experiment Next Friday
Next Friday, I am starting a new experiment for the blog vs vlog series I was doing some time ago. This time, though, I've added a few things to help deliver a better set of data points. Yep, I am geeking out over another spreadsheet.
The idea is to get me back into a regular routine for creating content both for the blog and the YouTube channel. Essentially, I'll create similar content three times a week for both platforms to see what specific audiences like the most in terms of topics.
I'm actually going into a bit more detail in a blog post today on WriterSanctuary.com. So, if this is something that interests you, be sure to subscribe to the push notifications or follow WriterSanctuary on Twitter or Facebook.
Let's Make September Epic, Then...
Even though I am still going to push to see if I can break a few records for August, I doubt I'll even come close. But you never know. As I always say, "Never give up, never surrender."
However, all of the plans I have set in motion for September should make it one of my best months of 2022. In any case, perhaps this six-month experiment will help me get closer to monetizing the channel. That way, I could pull in that mad YouTube money of $10 per month.
Yeah, AdSense doesn't pay nearly as much as some people might think.
