Hello DD followers,
It has been a busy weekend in DD-land, with a lot of small changes and "polish" going into the next alpha version (alpha-6). For your interest, the changes include:
Inclusion of the wayward specialist hirelings section,
A close copy-edit of books I, II, and III (fixing a bunch of small grammatical and typographical errors),
Applied consistent pronouns throughout; alternating he and she for individuals, it for monsters, they for groups.
Consolidated multiple definitions of FC and rounds,
Added a few key terms to the front glossary section,
Enforced US spelling throughout,
Simplified ~20 of the longest/most difficult sentences,
-- Including the initiative/first blow section, arguably the trickiest section in all of V5,
Pushed the Holmes-based switching weapons to the appendix,
and assorted grammatical polish throughout.
Alpha-6 also addresses the typographical issues seen in the hardcopy of alpha-5, including increasing the type size (to 9.5pt), increasing the type block area on the page (and so reducing the margins), including part-leading interior illustrations, and completely redoing the (now full-colour) cover.
Overall, I am pretty pleased with progress. I'm looking forward to seeing it in hardcopy, but it must be pretty close to a public version now :)
