I know a lot of people get angry when Xiao Lanhua is called Little Orchid and said that the names of other characters for some reason wasn't translated, so why her's was. This is one of the few things in which I'm on the side of translators. In fact, some names are actually translated, and some should be. Like "Wooden Head", is a nickname, but it can also be not translated, because she uses it as a name \ address to him. So it could be just "Dà mótóu." Or Siming. You can read about her name's meaning here.
I believe some names should be translated, sometimes translation would make a lot of things clear to the audience. As for Orchid, it's important that Orchid is an orchid. Throughout the whole drama, she regrets that she doesn't have a name. She's just a flower and her name is not really a person name, it's a name of a flower. Therefore, translation is important here, and only in this case is the comparison with peonies, peaches, rose and so on fully understandable. So here I agree with the translation. It's important to translate her name, even if other names are not translated. Lanhua doesn't convey the full meaning that the story has.
