This is The Huc Bridge - Cau The Huc - the iconic red bridge on Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi's Old Quarter. By day it's a crowded crossing to Ngoc Son Temple. At night it becomes what you see here: a perfect red line reflected in black water, lit from underneath, with just a few people stopped in the middle.
I shot this from the far bank at Hoan Kiem Lake, looking across. The bridge glowing, the reflection doubling it, the city lights behind the trees, and on the left the temple pagoda just visible. No tripod, no long exposure tricks.
For me as a photographer traveling through Vietnam and Southeast Asia, Hanoi at night is the opposite of Da Nang. Da Nang is wide, open, beach light. Hanoi is tight, layered, dark. If you search things to do in Hanoi at night or Hanoi Old Quarter travel, you end up here at Hoan Kiem Lake. It's the one place where Vietnam night photography really teaches you to wait.
Why I shot it this way:
70mm on the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II to compress the bridge and pull the reflection closer. Wide would have lost it in the lake. f/4.0 to keep the whole structure sharp but still let in light. 1/60 sec handheld - just enough to freeze the people on the bridge while holding the reflection. ISO 5000 because The Huc Bridge is darker than it looks, and the Alpha 7 IV holds that ISO clean without killing the reds.
If you go, wait for a calm night. No wind means that reflection.
