Had fun on our annual trip to Apple Hill a few days ago! Our two favorite farms unexpectedly weren't open, but we found a couple of other special places. Loved browsing through the interesting craft vendors and found some super cute, autumn-themed earrings as well as a great Christmas gift for one of my kids. ❤️ (Take a look at my photo gallery here to see pix of the earrings!)
Let me be completely honest though... The real reason I drive 2.5 hours each way to go to Apple Hill every fall is for the out-of-this-world, scrumptious apple desserts! After I devoured several cinnamon-sugar apple doughnuts, a hot apple turnover, soft apple crumb cake, and lovely apple-rhubarb pie, I felt deliciously full and greatly inspired! (I also brought home another dozen apple doughnuts, of course! 😁)
For the first time in a decade though, I didn't return home with boxes of actual apples. Why? Simple - I've already harvested so many apples this season from my own six apple trees. 😊 Now I'm looking forward to experimenting with baking all sorts of apple goodies!
Speaking of apple yumminess, I just had to add the photo above showing my 20yo & 17yo about to attack their amazing caramel apple creations! One apple is covered with caramel, dark chocolate, and walnuts. The other has a thick chocolate and peanut butter candy coating!!! 😮😄
So yes, our trip was a big success, despite traffic and our favorite places randomly not being open, because we experienced the day together. We soaked in the beauty of all the different apple orchards, we ate so many apples (and so much sugar!), and we laughed a whole lot. It was an adventure we will remember, and that's really one of the best successes of all. 😊😎
So, hey, go out and make some fun fall memories today! You'll be glad you did.
