I'm wondering if anyone is truly happy. Can we as humans ever find peace and serenity? Many have devoted their lives towards that goal. Given up everything, go on quests, pilgrimages, sat on mountains, given alms to the less fortunate, anything to try and find a moment of happiness.
But that's all it usually is, a moment. That moment when everything is okay in the world, where you don't have to worry about bills, or bosses, or the climate changing or the end of the world. I cannot say to have found happiness for there is always a new stress, a new challenge, a new problem that comes up. There might be some days, even weeks where all is well but I know it is temporary.
In my mind the path to happiness isn't eliminating all stress and problems, but to work towards those moments of calm as much as possible and enjoy them for as long as possible before the storm returns.
It is of interest to me that places that myself, and many other people, find peace is in the solitude of nature. Now I know this doesn't work for everyone, agoraphobics and the like, but sometimes I think we as a species run further and further away from nature and Mother Earth and get sucked into our plastic machines; but many of us find a profound sense of relief when we put our devices down and disconnected from the electronics and listen to the sounds of the natural world around us and feel the wind in our face and look at the wondrous green planet we have found ourselves on.
So take sometime today, find some a few minutes of happiness and just enjoy it. Enjoy life for a second, take a look at this wondrous planet we live on, just a few minutes to remember that your life is worth something and we are lucky to get to experience the moments of joy that are afforded to us, even if everything feels like it's falling apart. Especially if everything feels like it's falling apart.
Stay hydrated, keep dreaming.
