Resident Evil Requiem Interactive Map

Resident Evil Requiem Interactive Map

imageA hell of a lot of fanservice and questionable plot aside, I enjoyed the hell out of Requiem. It's the first horror game in years to make me audibly yell 'holy shit!', and the first hour was as tense as they come. In the latter half, Raccoon City felt so dry I could choke on it - and even if that section kind of sucks on a replay, it's one of the best Resident Evil games I've ever played.

While we're all twiddling our thumbs waiting for the DLCs - which I hope will be Resident Evil 7-esque in the sense that there'll be loads of them exploring loads of different ideas - my map ought to help you reach 100% completion!

As a side-note; the 'Final Challenge' was absolute bollocks. For those unfamiliar, this is the gist:

  • The game has a list of challenges; straightforward stuff like 'kill 50 enemies', 'beat the game', etc.

  • One of these is 'The Final Challenge'; its only description is 'Let the sweet pair hear the voice'.

  • With a few weeks of early access, I worked with the IGN guys to try to figure this out.

  • We got as far as finding labels reading things like G=15000000000, C=4.2ly, and U=380,000, roughly matching the distance between Earth and the nearest sun, moon, and star.

  • Some puzzles involve pressing sun, moon, and star buttons - you can scan a severed hand in a microscope to get a sequence like 'GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU'.

  • Much later in the game, you can kick a mascot head through a basketball hoop for a non-diegetic message that reads 'Just Ignore A'. If you do that, and type the sequence into a puzzle box you already solved earlier - you hear a creepy laugh!

That's where we got stuck, and had totally lost our marbles by the time the game came out - we tried everything you could think of, except...

  1. Waiting in the basement next to a corpse grinder for 15 minutes (???)

  2. Flushing a toilet 8 times (????)

  3. Finding a doll in a flooding laboratory, putting it into the item box, then pulling it back out in New Game Plus (?????)

  4. Holding the doll, holding a little girl you help throughout the game, and then triggering the laugh.

That's how you solve the puzzle, and I'm still pretty annoyed. You don't even get anything good! Just completion points, which are practically worthless. Blehhhhh.
