πŸ–πŸ½ Five Tips for Unplugging πŸ“΄

Dec 23, 2021

image Does anyone else have a hard time with unplugging? I always have my phone in hand and somehow I shift to autopilot and end up mindlessly scrolling away. Something random usually brings me back into the space and I remember "wait... I'm not supposed to be here. How did I end up here?"

Truth is: this cycle brings me comfort and it is a hard habit to break. So I put all of my social media comforts in a folder and made a title that would make me think twice before opening.

Here are some other replacements to consider when you are unplugging from social media.

  1. Create a folder with a gentle reminder. Give yourself grace and play around with this. Add emojis and a light message like "pause, breathe, or rest".

  2. Change your wallpaper to something that brings you ease and joy. This can be a picture of loved ones (or yourself), affirmations, or an encouraging post or message that you find.

  3. Practice conscious action. Set a goal for each time you touch your phone. The action can range from taking a deep breath, stretching, or busting out in a random dance move.

  4. Tidy up your virtual space. Delete emails, organize the folders on your phone, and more. Zen Folks*, click here for the checklist!

  5. Create! Create! Create! Don't worry about what's trending, just do what makes you feel good. If you're feeling overwhelmed, check out the Do More of What You Love workbook to find your starting place.

Be kind, gentle, and extend grace. It's ok if you end up scrolling on social media and have to restart. Every moment is a chance for a fresh start.
