Matsusaka is known for its high-grade meat... but there is actually a lot of history!
Matsusaka is located in Mie prefecture, not far from the important Ise Jingu Shrine and along the road from the Shrine to ancient Edo (Tokyo). Mainly famous for the prized Matsusaka meat, it is from here that the particular blue cotton also comes from, the trade of which led to the birth of the Mitsukoshi department stores.
The ruins of a castle and an excellently preserved samurai district make Matsusaka an interesting town despite being little known!
