The Quiet Strength of Scars.

The Quiet Strength of Scars.

The cab crawled through the humid morning, my watch screaming that I was
late for work. I muttered about the driver’s slow pace, like he had nowhere to
be.

Another car sped past, and that was when I noticed a man sitting among the passengers. A burn scar stretched across his face, healed but still refusing to blend with his skin. He sat quietly, eyes
fixed outside, as if the scar was just another part of him now.

Without a word, I could not stop wondering
about his story. What was his life like before this scar? How did it happen?
Was it an explosion, a scalding accident, or an acid burn?

Something about that scar stopped me cold,
pulling me out of my own head. In that moment, I realized there is a story
behind every scar. Stories you do not have to tell before someone understands.
Some scars are visible, while others remain hidden deep within us, yet both shape
us into who we are.

I thought about the pain he must have endured,
the grief, and the long healing journey that brought him to this point. The
wound had closed, the scar had formed, and somehow, he had learned to live with
it.

Sometimes looking at our scars takes us back to the moment they were made.
In a fleeting instant, you remember the pain, the discomfort, the fear, the
helplessness, and the long nights of healing. And sometimes those memories
carry a bittersweet weight, because even though the pain was real, so was the
strength it took to survive it.

I could not stop thinking about how often we
meet people without realizing the battles they have fought. Scars, whether seen
or unseen, are proof that you walked through fire and came out stronger.

So, if you are reading this and carrying your
own scar, remember that it speaks of survival. It shows that you lived through
something that tried to break you but could not. Maybe it did in that moment. But
here you are, refusing to let it define you. Here you are still standing and
fighting, wearing your scars like tattoos etched from battles you survived,
telling your story in silence.

Sometimes we do not look like what we have
been through. And maybe that is the beauty of it. Survival does not always
scream. Sometimes it whispers in your bones, shaping you in ways the world may
never see.

As the cab pulled away, I thought of that man’s scar and all the battles we all carry, seen or unseen, that make us who we are. I will never know his story, but his scar told me he is a survivor, carrying silent victories.
