Hello👋 We are the Sutterfields!
We started in Omaha, Nebraska — but staying in one place was never really our thing. Before we ever chose life on the road, we had already lived in five states (NE, NM, CA, AZ, NV) and moved 13 times between apartments. Looking back… we were basically in training for RV life.
In November 2021, we bought our truck and camper, left New Mexico, and headed to a friend’s property in Escondido, California to officially start full-time RV living.
We never looked back.
Year One (2021–2022): The Learning Curve
We split time between Escondido and Las Vegas, figuring out how to live in an RV, homeschool our kids, and exist together 24/7 without losing our minds. It was a year of growth, patience, and a whole lot of trial and error.
Year Two (2022–2023): The Test
We traveled from Las Vegas back to Omaha, visiting family along the way and truly testing ourselves — financially, mechanically, and mentally. We learned we were far more capable than we ever imagined.
Year Three (2023–2024): The Upgrade
We went big and added solar. And not “a little solar.” A LOT of solar. That upgrade changed everything. We spent much of the year at festivals, camp hosting, and even made it to Mexico. Without relying on RV parks, we finally felt like we were living completely on our terms.
Year Four (2024–2025): The Curveball
My husband lost his job when his company enforced a “return to office” policy… in Minneapolis — a place we’ve never lived and had no plans to move to. Ironically, we were sitting on a beach in Mexico when it happened… while they were in the middle of a snowstorm in Minnesota. No regrets there.
Year Five (2025–2026): The Pivot
We’ve been making it work. I took a maintenance position at an RV park in May 2025 and have been here almost a year now. Is it the forever plan? Probably not. But sometimes you do what you need to do to keep the dream alive.
This life isn’t always easy. It stretches you. It humbles you. It teaches you fast.
But it’s also building something bigger than comfort — it’s building resilience, creativity, and a family that knows how to adapt no matter what.
We’re not done dreaming. We’re not done exploring. And we’re definitely not done growing.
The road is still wide open — and we’re excited to see where it takes us next.
Follow along and be part of the journey — the best chapters are still ahead.
