I was going through an advertisement tonight promoting a program of exercises to help people heal from trauma by regulating the Nervous System.
I've been seeing a healer for a while for this very issue and she has told me, and the makers of this program confirmed this as well, that most every one of us now have a dysregulated nervous system. We've grown accustomed to living in survival mode - often in fight or flight - the brain always scanning the environment for danger - trying to prepare itself for this something that may come along and disrupt our peace.
It's an exhausting way to live. I see more people than ever before now who are in survival mode - and not just financially - but emotionally, mentally, Spiritually. We are a collective of exhausted, traumatized Souls pretending everything is ok, when deep within, in our quiet moments, we know we're not.
I see it in the eyes of people as I go out and about. I see weariness. I experience grumpiness. People don't smile at one another the way we once did. Eye contact seems to have been lost. When did this really begin? During covid - when the government took away our right to medical choices and said if we wanted food, we had to mask up. If we wanted supplies - we had to cover our faces. If we wanted to see a doctor, same thing. We were also told which way we could walk in stores and how many feet we had to stay apart.
I won't share the tidbits of science and logic that will blow up that entire narrative as the focus of this is on healing ourselves. That period of time really harmed us all - far more than the virus itself. Physical viruses come for a time and the body heals and moves on. But being forced to keep a distance from others, being forced to cover our faces at the same time, programming telling us to fear one another - that took a toll - a long lasting emotional toll.
Collective trauma is the other side of that time in history. We all need to take time to heal those parts of us that were harmed. There are a variety of methods out there. Books on the vagus nerve. Meditation tools, movement and breathing exercises. Programs on regulating the nervous system. And there are more trauma healers than ever before. Help is available for all who seek it.
Hopefully we can learn from it, heal from it together, and rethink our choices so that the next time, if something like this should happen again, we will rethink our choices and compliance.
Love,
Victoria
