I was labor trafficked as a child inside a cult. I did not get a paycheck. I did not get a choice. I was abused if I didn’t work fast or hard enough. And the adults around me were the overseers. There were dozens of children in the cult being trafficked in the same manner.
I wrote about this labor in my memoir, Cult Child. The scene below takes place when I was about six years old. My older sister and I had been put to work shucking corn. My older sister, Leis, was ten.
