Meet Hanna Sitalova – a woman who’s travelled across borders, disciplines, and identities, and is now building something bold at the intersection of tech, language, and human connection.
Before the war, Hanna lived and worked in Ukraine. When full-scale invasion shattered her country’s rhythm, she moved to Canada, where she graduated from film school and began working on productions.
“It didn’t meet my expectations – financially or emotionally. I knew I had to pivot.”
So Hanna moved again, this time to Lithuania. She now works in an international bank and freelances in design. But deep down, she felt the need to connect her scattered experiences into a bigger vision. That’s when she discovered U(in)Power.
The program became a turning point:

From a collection of skills to a defined purpose - Hanna’s journey began to shift.
Her idea? A mobile app powered by AI that helps migrants and expats learn languages through real-life conversation.
"I’ve lived in many countries and speak five languages. But I know how hard it is to actually adapt - to go beyond textbook phrases."
Her app will combine transcription, live translation, and learning features - and most importantly, will adjust to the user’s actual daily vocabulary. The result? Personalized, meaningful, empowering learning experiences.
"The app won’t replace traditional courses. But it can be a powerful tool for integration - for people who are already surviving in a new country, but want to truly connect."
The U(in)Power program gave her more than knowledge. It gave her a launchpad.
"Everyone in the program had such different paths. But hearing their stories, testing my idea, refining the plan - it helped me see that I’m ready to lead."
Hanna now sees two paths: either build this startup and secure investment, or join a team as a product or project manager. Either way, she knows how to navigate forward.
"If not this idea, there will be others. But now I have the mindset, the clarity, and the confidence to move."
