Hey! I'm Tanya, a pysankarka from Toronto, Canada. I'm second-generation Ukrainian-Canadian and have been writing pysanky over 40 years, since before I could write words. Like most of my friends, I grew up surrounded by all things Ukrainian: art, music, dance, faith, summer camps, and school. Ukrainian was my first language and I still speak, read, write, cook and sing in Ukrainian daily. My amazing husband was my Ukrainian dance partner and we have two sons who continue to keep us on our toes. I write mostly diasporan or avtorski pysanky and am exploring traditional pysanka designs from various regions of Ukraine, especially those where my ancestors came from. I'm also a graphic designer and first visited Ukraine in 2019 - I can't wait to go back. I'm so grateful that you read this far and hope you enjoy learning about pysanky with me.
