Jason Kelce Retires.  The End Of One Career And The Beginning Of Another

The Kelce family has become polarizing here in the last few years.  From both Travis and Jason to their mom and dad and now the newest addition Taylor Swift.  This is a very unique situation for sure and I for one am a huge fan of both Jason and Travis.  On the field they both have dominated but now are dominating off the field as well.

From the start Jason was always an undersized, well NFL undersized, player.  He grew up in Ohio, went to college at Cincinnati, got drafted in the 6th round in the NFL draft, a Super Bowl Champion, and now an extremely successful podcaster.  For those who don’t know, a podcast is basically a radio show on the internet.  The show features Jason and Travis and they talk all things football along with what is going on in the world.  They have guests from the NFL both past and present and if you haven’t watched on YouTube or listened, the name of their podcast is New Heights.  If you aren’t a football fan they explain the game so both seasoned fans and new fans can understand it.  They also toss in an awesome amount of comedy as well.  They bring a perspective to the game that has traditionally been over shadowed by other players that play other positions.  You get inside info about offensive and defensive line play as well as tight end and route runners.  There are plenty of other avenues to get perspective from a quarterback or other positions but the Kelce’s are dominating in what they are doing for sure!

Jason has been hinting at retiring for the last few years now.  On Monday he held a press conference and made it official.  He will go down as one of the best centers in the history of the NFL, played in two Super Bowls, and countless Pro Bowls.  Travis has entered the conversation of being the best tight end in NFL history but the podcast is where the future leads.  It would not surprise me if he did television at some point because he is just that good.  As a fan of the podcast I can’t wait to see where they take it.  Even if they didn’t change a thing it continue to be a success.  I would say they are trailblazing something, which they really are, but I have a feeling there aren’t too many sets of brothers that played in the NFL that could or would start a podcast so what they are doing is very unique.

I know lately there have been many folks saying they are getting Kelce Overload.  Travis and Jason are everywhere.  Commercials, Taylor is being shown multiple times during Travis’s games, and I can see how people would be annoyed at that.  But for me, knowing that we will never see personalities like theirs on display the way theirs are, we should appreciate how they are, where they came from, the ride they have been on, and where it is going.  I will always be a fan of folks who grow up in a blue collar community and make something of themselves.  I will always be a fan of both the Kelces!
