This is a PSA for the Travelusion family:
My phone was stolen on my last day in Marrakech when I was ironically trying to make a phone call to our guide who was running 30 mins late. As a result I have been off comms until my return home in the UK which only happened yesterday night. As you all may know most accounts and devices are linked between themselves. I was lucky that by some miracle I managed to leave myself logged into one of my emails on my PC which I never do, and through there was able to start gaining access some things. However I am still locked out all social media and WhatsApp, meaning I haven't been able to speak with family and friends for a couple of days or make any important announcements on Facebook.
I have a recovery sim which will give me access to everything shortly. However because this is taking so long - since I had to make a call to block both number and device for security reasons - my sim is still not operative, and I haven't been able to replace my phone yet, which will cost a pretty penny, just a month before Xmas. So, I should be able to deliver all my lectures and tours over zoom - because thankfully that runs off my emails and so far so good - touch wood. And I have just contacted WVT to be able to have access to my tours with them for today and tomorrow - still work in progress but I suspect will be fixed by 8pm tonight, fingers crossed.
Needless to say I am a Little Bit Stressed Out...so, if anything goes wrong in the next 72h please cut me some slack. I am hoping this shouldn't take longer than 3 days otherwise I may be in serious trouble workwise, since a tour guide kinda needs to be contactable for tours and all that jazz, and Winchester Xmas market opens officially on Friday. I am not just stressed from the trouble this is all causing me technologically.
Although I am fine now, the phone was literally taken from my living grasping hand, by 2 people on a motorbike driving literally up to me, and dragging me from the very discreet place where me and James were sitting waiting for our guide, surrounded by locals who knew us and took incredible good care of us. However my left leg is badly grazed from it - wound cleaned and disinfected. If it wasn't for James grabbing me and keeping me safe, the motorbike would have pulled me quite some distance. Hand and arm where the phone taken from suffering neuralgic pain from the fibromyalgia. Barely slept or eaten anything since Sunday. Giving a police statement in a police station where barely anyone speaks English definitely put my French to a test. I am one dress short since it was literally snapped in the process of trying to keep my belongings, and of course the emotional distress of ruining my last day of holiday - special tour in the desert - all the things I had on my phone which are lost, memories, photos ALL my photos and recordings from Morocco, so enjoy whatever I was able to upload to YouTube.
I'm severely sleep deprived, barely eaten and hardly sane. So, while I don't mean to scare you since it all was as "painless" as could have been, I do ask for your patience in this matter. I will continue to keep you posted and hope the worse that comes from this is that I may get locked temporarily out of my accounts once more, and then carry on as usual. Thanks for your cooperation, and please don't worry too much - I am fine just need a Holiday from my Holiday.
