Moses Went Up to God

“Then Moses went up to God.” Have you been up to God today? In Exodus 19, Israel arrives at Mount Sinai. And before God gives commandments, He gives identity. He says: “I carried you on eagle’s wings… and brought you to myself.” That’s not just power—that’s tenderness. God even describes Himself like a mother eagle—carrying His young. But then He says something even more: “You are my treasured possession.” Out of everything God owns… He chooses people. And not just to belong—but to serve: “A kingdom of priests… a holy nation.” That means representing God to people—and people to God. But then something changes. Thunder. Lightning. Boundaries. Because God is close—but not casual. He is loving—but holy. And the people tremble. Not because they are rejected… but because they are in the presence of something greater than themselves.
