I’m happy to share that Retro Watch is now available on both Android and iOS.
Retro Watch is a small pixel clock app that turns your phone or tablet into a cozy retro desk display.
It started as a web app, and I used Capacitor to bring it to native mobile without rebuilding everything from scratch. But I didn’t want the mobile version to feel like just a wrapped website, so I added a few native touches along the way.
The app now includes haptic feedback, native sharing, better app lifecycle handling, and a keep-screen-awake option so you can leave it open on your desk, shelf, or bedside table.
That last feature became one of my favorite parts of the app.
Retro Watch is not really about checking the time more efficiently. It is more like a small ambient object for your space — a pixel clock with retro themes and gentle background music that quietly sits beside you while you work, study, or rest.
I like making small apps like this because they don’t need to solve huge problems to be meaningful. Sometimes a tiny experience can make a desk, a room, or a quiet moment feel a little better.
