I never thought I'd be making daily video content at the age of 66. I never thought I'd be in front of a camera talking about, of all things, Thailand!
But here I am. We publish almost daily on YouTube but it's a long slog to check the facts, come up with an 'angle', create the content and upload it. Whilst YouTube makes a small contribution through its Adsense program, it barely makes it worthwhile for all the time spent. I also spend a lot of time curating, and responding to, the thousands of comments we receive each week - not all of them nice.
I am trying to keep the content, and my approach, fresh and engaging, whilst recognising my core audience are 'mature aged' and seeking accurate, timely and useful information about Thailand - for people that live here and people that enjoy visiting.
And I do love a coffee :) I'm definitely not a coffee snob but I have several different styles of coffee in the house, and we also provide free coffee - from 'drip' to 'instant' for our guests.
Coffee culture is relatively new in Thailand; it was difficult a decent cup of coffee back in 2000 when I first visited. Now it's ubiquitous, in all sorts of creative and 'very Thai' versions.
So I'll keep drinking coffee and I'll keep spitting out daily content as long as it remains enjoyable and useful to others.
