La Union 2022: 2D1N trip by Gemmy Tries

May 11, 2022

Hello there, I'm back! I know I took too long to return to writing but I hope I'm here to stay again this year. As a starter for my return, I would like to share what happened during my short out of town trip. Enjoy reading!

It has always been a wish to travel to places I've never been to. Well, I haven't been anywhere yet in the first place if that makes sense. I am that kind of person who wakes up, goes to work, and go home after then sleep. That's my routine since I started working. Travelling isn't one of my priorities but sending my siblings to school and providing food on our table. Until you wake up longing for something, an unwind moment, a feeling you know you deserve but wouldn't give yourself: REST. So this 2022, I thought maybe I can give myself 1-2 out of town trips? I know this sounds ridiculously little but checking my budget and availability, this is the least I could give myself at the moment.

Our friend booked us a 2 days, 1 night trip to La Union to celebrate our another friend's birthday. We didn't do DIY because we wanted a rather smooth trip without any hassle from transportation, itinerary and so on. The travel tour we got was Team Chat Travel and Tours for only P2,599. We received a P300.00 discount for booking a month early from our travel date which is good news to add that budget for food instead. This was the places we visited: Man Made Forest, Bahay na Bato, Baluarte Ruins, Pebble beach, San Juan Beach, Namacpacan Cathedral, Flotsam Jetsam, Kabsat, Macho Temple, Halo halo De Iloko Balay, and Grapes Farm.

Beautiful places that deserves to be seen by anyone who loves travelling. I actually thought that 2 days and 1 night wouldn't be enough to finish this land tour but apparently, it's surprisingly sufficient. You know why? It's because once you see the famous La Union beach, you wouldn't dare to go anywhere else. But don't worry, we finished our land itinerary. Teehee!

Of course I wouldn't miss to take a good snap of a place where the sky meets the sea. I didn't actually planned to matched the sky and sea colors but I did! I belong there, don't you think?

The Urbiztondo Beach is the primary spot where you'll see surfers test out the waves, day or night. A long beach walk with different accommodations as well as food hubs in front. I think the best beach area are the ones in front of Flotsam and Jetsam and Kabsat because there are no rocks and moss, only the sand and the beach.

The sunset at Elyu (La Union short term) is the show stopper of the trip. Best time to sit in the sand, grab your iced drink and talk about anything with your friends. A background music would be a perfect bonus!

If you are expecting for my recommendation of food to try, well there's only one place that I would love everyone to try. It's the El Union Coffee! As a heavy coffee-drinker, I would stake my credibility over an iced dirty Horchata from El Union. One of the best for me. Price ranges from P140.00-P200.00 and the food ranges from P200.00-P250.00. This may come as pricey to some people but the place uses environment-friendly cups as well as their food packaging. My friends and I went there twice and we don't regret it. Never.

Although everything seems full-packed and fun, our trip has come to an end. Our last stop was the Grapes Farm where you can pick your own grapes and bring it to their table for weigh-in and payment. It seems simple but it's somehow a good way to end the good trip. I just wish the grapes where seedless, that's all.

Overall, I would say that La Union was indeed a short bliss. If I would ever come back, I would head straight to the beach and stay there basking under the sun (with sunscreen, of course!).

Have you ever been to La Union? Share with me your experience in the comments section below. See you in my next post! Have a great day!

Love, gemmyy.
