š Credit Card Transfers to Emirates Skywards Are Back ā Hereās What You Need to Know
After a surprising and frustrating suspension in April, credit card points transfers to Emirates Skywards are finally back. This means you can once again move your rewards from major U.S. credit card programs into Emirates' loyalty programāand book Emirates flights using your points.
This return was first reported by Frequent Miler, and it's a big relief for anyone who had award travel plans put on pause.
ā Which Programs Are Back?
You can now transfer points from the following issuers:
American Express Membership Rewards
Chase Ultimate Rewards
Capital One Miles
Citi ThankYouPoints
Bilt Rewards
All had suspended transfers at slightly different times and with unclear return dates. Chase originally said the suspension would last until June 30, so itās great to see things restored ahead of schedule. Amex and Citi hadnāt provided a timeline at all, which created even more uncertainty.
In our tests, transfers to Emirates have been instant, but keep in mind that this can vary by program. As always, transfers are final, so make sure you find award availability before moving your points.
ā ļø Key Things to Watch Out For
While the good news is that transfers are back, not everything is rosy:
š 1. Citi Transfers Will Be Devalued Starting July 27
If youāre transferring Citi ThankYouPoints, do it soon. Starting July 27, the transfer ratio drops to 5:4 ā meaning 1,000 points = 800 Skywards miles. All other issuers still offer 1:1 transfers (for now).

š« 2. Emirates Now Restricts First Class Redemptions
You can now only book Emirates First Class with Skywards miles if you're an elite member of the program. Thatās a big blow for casual travelers who want to fly in one of the worldās best premium cabins.
Workaround: You can still book Emirates First Class using partner programs like Qantas Frequent Flyer.
Hereās how:
Transfer Amex, Citi, or Capital One points to Qantas (1:1)
Find Emirates First Class award space on Qantasā website
Transfer and book from there (again, always confirm space first)
āļø Bottom Line
Itās a win to have all major U.S. credit card transfer options back with Emirates Skywards. But the move comes with mixed news:
Citi transfers will soon be less valuable
First Class access is now restricted to Skywards elites
Workarounds still existāif you know where to look
If youāre planning a trip on Emirates or want to experience their world-class premium cabins, nowās the time to actāespecially before the Citi transfer devaluation on July 27.
