Ok let's talk about stress management! We all get stressed, even if you love your job, or if you are a stay-at-home mom. Ok if you are a stay-at-home mom, you probably get stressed more than most! The fact is we all experience stress in different ways and for many different reasons. That is why it is important to have ways to manage stress.
First let's talk about why we need to manage and have ways to reduce stress. Stress can cause health issues like high blood pressure and can trigger anxiety. If you are stressed it is going to be harder for you to focus and that can make it harder to get work done.
So what can you do to manage stress? Do things you enjoy and take time for yourself. I really do not understand why it is seen as being selfish when we want to take time for ourselves. It is something we all need to do to be at our best!
One way to manage stress is exercises, make it something you enjoy doing so it doesn't add to your stress instead of helping manage it. For example, I love to ride my bike, walk, and dance. You would not believe how much a 5 min dance party in the kitchen or living room helps when I am starting to feel run down or overwhelmed when working on a project. I have a friend who loves strength training and lifting weights, that's her thing. Of course, you don't need me to tell you that exercises has many health benefits as well.
There are other ways to manage stress, other than exercise as well. Art for example. I personally love to color and love the coloring books with different designs, like flowers or nature scenes. I am also a big kid at heart and love paint by number sets! The ones at craft stores that come with oil paints, I love filling in the numbers with paint and seeing the picture come to life! I like to draw to, even though I am by no means an artist drawing and coloring help me relax.
Another great way to manage stress is journaling. I love writing and I often write in a journal to get my thoughts and feelings out; it helps manage them. Even when it's just a page dump of feeling or a ranting session journaling helps me feel better.
Of course, having a home spa day or night is one of my favorite ways to manage stress. And one of my favorite forms of self-care. In fact, my skincare routine is one of my daily selfcare and stress management practices. In the morning taking time to massage my cleansers in while washing my face then enjoying the hot washcloth over my face as I wipe off the cleanser, followed by tapping and massaging my serums in, and my moisturizer helps me get ready for the day.
Yall already know I am a big makeup fanatic and doing my makeup in the mornings helps put me in a good mood and helps pump up my confidence. Then in the evenings, I often enjoy a hot bath after the little ones are in bed and my housework is done. I really enjoy using a facial mask while soaking in the tub for a little extra pampering. And lavender infused lotions and creams are the perfect way to end the day.
Everyone will have different ways that help them reduce stress and feel better, you have to find what works for you!
