If you don't have olive trees around your surroundings have you ever wondered how does a fresh and juicy olive tastes like straight from the tree? Yummy, right? π€€
Not really... We tried our first one in Malta a few years back and it was... well... terrible π Olives contain a very bitter thing named oleutopein to protect them from munching creatures. To become edible, they have to be cured in salty water for a long time π¦
Last autumn we harvested olives and made our own cold pressed oil for the first time πΏ It was a quite longer and exhausting process than we expected, but it feels wonderful and empowering to have the chance to get such goodies straight from the garden π± We're truly grateful for what the land gives and eager to share the treasures π π§ββοΈ
Here's some harvesting moments Hope some of you will have the chance to taste the oil when visiting β
π Many thanks to @2hearts4wheels and @t0niic for the extra hands π
