AGL has recently expanded beyond just offering Velocity Points on electricity and gas — you can now earn points on mobile and NBN plans too.
There’s up to 36,000 Velocity Points on offer if you sign up to both, with points paid monthly over six months. The plans come with special introductory pricing and no lock-in contracts, making it easy to switch.
I totally get life gets busy and switching takes some time & effort — but this is your reminder that when it comes to utilities, the real savings often come from switching and maximising bonus offers — not staying loyal.

Anything Else to Be Aware Of?
🔹 Points are paid monthly, not upfront — usually within 10 business days of bill payment.
🔹 Intro pricing lasts 6 months — after that, costs typically increase by $15/month (Mobile) or $25/month (NBN), and points stop. This really lessens the appeal, and you should plan to move elsewhere when this 6 month period ends.
🔹 You must sign up via the Velocity offer page and enter your Velocity number during sign-up to earn points.
🔹 Offer only applies to new customers or those adding a new service (e.g. porting in a mobile number).
🔹 SIM delivery can take 7–10 days — order this for free in advance so your new plan lines up with the end of your current billing cycle and you’re not double-paying.
🔹 No lock-in contracts, but if you cancel or downgrade early, you’ll forfeit any future bonus points.
🔹 No end date for this promotion is currently specified, but based on experience, I’d anticipate this is as good as the bonuses and pricing will get.
Is It Worth It?
Personally, I think these are fantastic deals — even without factoring in the points.
If you value the Velocity Points at just 1c each, that brings the Small Mobile plan down to $10/month and the cheapest NBN plan to $69/month. That’s extremely competitive pricing.
For context, I've been a bit 'lazy' myself the past few months comparing offers & I’m currently paying $25/month with Belong for less data (and no points), so switching my mobile is a no-brainer. Our NBN just went up to $93/month with Origin — for a slower 50/20 speed — so that’s getting changed too!
Just to be clear — I’m not advertising for AGL or any company with these group posts, and I haven’t personally used them outside of energy. But in metro areas, I’ve found most telcos are pretty similar. If it turns out to be a dud? No stress — I’ll just move on.
