Pirmais solis bija atrakt vecos pamatus, saprast situāciju, tos nostiprināt un nosiltināt.
Diemžēl, atrokot pamatus, sapratām, ka daļai baznicas ēkas kārtīgu pamatu nemaz nav. Ļoti nepatīkams pārsteigums, tomēr labs apliecinājums, ka pareizi bija sākt tieši ar šo darbu, lai viss turpmākais ir uz stingriem pamatiem būvēts.
Nefunkcionējošās pamatu daļas šobrīd tiek pilnībā atrakatas, lai varētu izveidot pamatu bāzi no jauna, ievietot armatūru, nostiprināt un nosiltināt.
Pie reizes arī baznīcas iekštelpās tiek demontēta vecā paštaisītā metāla krāsns, kuras lietošana vairs nebija droša un kuru nu jau aizstāj iepriekšējā rudenī uzmūrētā, skaistā ķieģeļu krāsns.

The renovation work at Jūrmalciems church began this week.
The first step was to dig up the old foundations, understand the situation, strengthen and insulate.
Unfortunately, when we dug up the foundations, we realized that part of the church building did not have a proper foundation at all! This was a very unpleasant surprise, to say the least. Nevertheless, a good confirmation that it was the correct decision where to start, so that everything in the future would be built on solid foundations.
The non-functioning parts of the foundations are now being completely excavated so that the foundation base can be created anew, reinforcement inserted, strengthened and insulated.
At the same time, the old DIY metal stove inside the church is being dismantled, which was no longer safe to use and which has now been replaced by a beautiful brick stove built last autumn.
Thank you for joining us in this work. I believe that together and God willing, we will be able to do this wonderfully.
