🚆 Weekend Running Update – GNER Icons on the Move 🔥
This weekend has been all about putting the GNER fleet through its paces—and it’s been a brilliant sight seeing these iconic sets stretching their legs on the layout.
The Class 91 + Mk4 set has been running smoothly, gliding through with that classic East Coast presence, while the HST set (43105 leading) continues to deliver with that unmistakable diesel soundtrack as it powers around the layout.
I’ve been able to run both sets through a variety of movements—mainline passes, diversions, and yard transitions—which is really starting to bring the operational side of the layout to life. Seeing them appear, disappear, and re-emerge from different sections adds a whole new level of realism.
That said… it hasn’t been without its challenges.
I’m still working through a couple of lighting issues on the DVTs:
The 225 set isn’t behaving quite right with its tail lights
Intermittent lighting on the DVT is still pointing towards a likely pickup issue
So next step is some proper investigation—bodies off, checking pickups, wiring, and decoder behaviour to get things running exactly as they should.
Overall though, a really satisfying weekend of running. These GNER sets just look superb in motion and are quickly becoming a real highlight of the layout.
