Leave This Weekend and I’m Still Panicking

Much like my last post I'm still feeling a little unsure about my decision to apply, but ultimately you’ve got to take these big scary chances to reach your dreams.  I shouldn’t feel embarrassed about reaching for big goals but we’ve all got that little voice in the back of our heads telling us we’re not good enough.  Where my routine stands now, I have once again changed songs!  I’ve never had artist block so bad as I have these past 6 weeks.  In the past 2 weeks I FINALLY settled on choreography so that’s a relief that I've at least been consistently drilling the same sequences but last weekend on a whim I decided to try running my routine to a different song and it worked out 10x better.  The vibe of the song just fits the choreo better and the timing is easier to hit and doesn't look as forced as the original song I had picked.  I’ve had that song picked out basically since I’d decided to apply again, it's a folk metal song about being a witch that I thought would stand out and give me a chance to show strong character work.  Ultimately that song was not working.  I don’t yet possess the skill set to make that intense of a song work on silks.  I think I could use that song on lyra and make it work but on silks I’m just not capable of moving as fast as I’d like and having a 3 minute time limit also added to the struggle.  The song I have now settled on is actually the song I used the first time I applied to school.  I found it on my playlist and realized its the perfect length and I thought the vibes would fit and I was right.  So now I've got a lyra routine and silks routine to Bite by Troy Sivan.   This routine now moves slower and is prettier with a more somber motif when before I was trying to make the same choreo angry and thrashy with a hint of fear and trapped animal.

One day I will make the angry appalachian witch routine of my dreams but unfortunately that time is not now.

Today I’m taking a rest day and so looking forward to it.  I’ve been surviving off epsom salt baths and protein shakes.  At this point I am excited and nervous for the audition but I’m so excited to get it over with so I can get home at a reasonable hour again and take more reasonable rest days. My brain has turned to goo and I’m ready for a break.
