The IDEA of INDIVIDUALITY

The IDEA of INDIVIDUALITY

Mar 09, 2024

Hello to all the readers on this beautiful Saturday evening. Today, I want to share my insights about the publishing industry that is more and more becoming a platform for showcasing content which has very little relevance to the direction of the world around us. From my own observations of such, as a human being and as a Poet with a sensitive soul, I am moved to write these words to my receptive audience.

Content generation has it's roots in the inherent quality of a human mind capable of germination and incubation of IDEAS. The ideas can be about anything. Some of them may be focusing on enriching human living, or exchanging knowledge in a specific field. There may be others which are entertaining in nature. There is an unsaid inclination for humans to avoid intellectually or emotionally difficult situations and consume that which is convenient and allows them to reside within their complacency. However, such complacency eventually leads to stagnation, in which our foundational material as humans, rots out and gets degraded. It is in those circumstances that it is absolutely imperative to introduce new ideas and new perspectives for the architecture of healthy societies.

With an increasing sense of collectivism taking over every field that involves generating and cultivating of ideas and producing content, the individual ideas that may be suggestive of fundamental and groundbreaking reinvention of the psychological and societal framework of humanity, would never see the light of the day. These ideas that are far from the norm are considered as a threat to the status quo.

However, the fact still remains that what we all see as community, society, or nations is not a standalone holographic entity. IT IS A SET OF INDIVIDUALS. And the elimination of the idea of INDIVIDUALITY in order to serve an image of a collective, which appears to be greater than the individual, leads to breaking down of the building block of a society which is none other than the individual.

The publishing industry, from what I can see, is driven by the motive of creating content that maintains the people's mindsets as docile and complacent within the consumption of the overload of informational and entertaining content. Any new ideas that may trigger the readers in questioning their own reality is not seen as a lucrative business by the industry which solely thrives on the people willing to fall in line with their standard practices. A society with a hierarchical set up where there is a concentration of power and control over the decision about which ideas can reach the people, is nothing less than a society prone to contagious psychological illnesses. An IDEA that is capable of sprouting a revolution is POWERFUL and the sign of true freedom is when the flow of such an IDEA from the individual to the audience is not hijacked by the big establishments and industrial complexes.

I am sharing this following poem, titled “One Thousand Suns”, which flowed from the mountains of my soul yesterday evening. I hope you enjoy it.
