To put it simply, yes. To be more a little more descriptive, it’s a game, or several variations of games played while live streaming. In my case, it’s been watching for a couple of months, while I have already been streaming other games, then finally taking the plunge and running sessions.
I wasn't sure if this was something I could do, because some of these streamers are quite talented. They are multitasking, watching the chat, running the game, controlling camera angles, interacting with viewers and handling anywhere from twenty to hundreds of people at a time playing a game they are hosting. It's a bit intimidating.
To those that aren't familiar or in the know, yet, I recently qualified for Twitch's Affiliate program, which grants me the potential of making actual income off of streaming. You Tube, though I have been active and trying for a few years now, hasn't granted me the same priveledge. (Not salty) In any case, my first stream as an affiliate had a group of about fifty people drop in. Okay, I wasn't expecting anything like that and for the next hour and a half, it was a bit overwhelming.
Since then, I have had the chance to figure out what I'm doing to a much better degree. Running a game where dozens of people may come in to visit, however, was still a bit daunting. I should say, it was, until the first few people joined, then it was just me hanging out with the chat, interacting, having fun, and trying to remember to move to the next track and hit start. I became me, you know, the person I always have been, and it was a blast.
So, why write all of this for something that worked out well.
Because sometimes we don't take a chance on something that seems bigger than we are, and we assume that it may not be something we can handle. In truth, all we need to do is just be ourself, because we are more than enough to handle the task. Don't let any experience in life pass you because you don't feel deserving, or tall enough to handle the challenge. You may find out you are a perfect fit for the situation.
You will never find out, though, if you don't try.
