That nagging feeling

That nagging feeling

Apr 06, 2024

Do you ever get that? It's that feeling in the back of your brain that keeps telling you that you are forgetting something. It may be a call you are supposed to make, something you were supposed to pick up or just that cup of coffee you made and forgot to bring into the other room with you. I have spent the last few days with that feeling and although there are a few things I know I have put off on purpose, I still had that nagging feeling.

Yes, I got my coffee, first of all, but of the things I may have forgotten or put off on purpose, I went back and either accounted for them or did them. I know I have to do may taxes this weekend (I am going to owe, so why do it early - don't worry, it’s going to be about like last year when it was 23 bucks). I continue to post in here, though I have put off my tech blog for the past several weeks. I published a YouTube video the other day, and will post one on the 'gaming' channel tomorrow. I've also paid all of my bills that were due or coming due with the exception of one that will be paid in a few days.

I have actually gone back and tried to put a hand on all of the things I have needed to do, and they have either been done, planned or found to be not important and scratched off of my list. I did realize in that process that I already had footage for a YT video, and I need to put more gas in my car, but the feeling didn't go away. I had the feeling that it wasn't something too vital, but it was something I wanted to do.

In the true spirit of someone that sometimes has issues focusing, I even found a few things during that process that needed attention and I took care of those, too (either by doing it or putting it in the trash). Somethings are highly visible, like yardwork because I see it every day, but I kept feeling like this was something I was walking by every day and not taking care of. Well, it was. As dumb as this is going to sound, when I was cleaning out a box in my closet looking for something else, I came across some air fresheners for my car that I never used. Air fresheners, that I have since looked to buy at the store and couldn't find.

It sounds stupid, but I have been meaning to take them out to my car for days, and keep forgetting, while they sat in a plastic bag on the corner of my dining room table so I wouldn't forget. When I realized what I had done, it was like a light bulb going off. Seriously? This couldn't be what was nagging at me. Oddly enough though, the feeling went away. Three dollars’ worth of liquid and plastic occupied a small portion of my brain the last few days and made me think I was losing my darn mind.

Yep, I'm getting old.
