Painting with the colours of the sun and chewing on some crackers..yes! That's him:
His name is Paul Alexander: The man who taught the world to breathe bravely:
Paul Alexander—affectionately known as Polio Paul—was one such soul and though he was paralyzed by polio at just six years old and spending more than 70 years in an iron lung because he could not move his body but for his head, yet, he breath so peaceful and eagerly with grits and wonder throughout his 'seventy-ate' years ... Now that's a wonder!
He did survive through out his metal cast plunge all through those years and—he thrived real good..
..inside that steel chamber where he lived, being taken care of by his loved ones, he learned to graduate from school and earned a law degree, authored books, mentored others, and became a global symbol of brilliance, courage, discipline, and faithful resilience.
Polio Paul showed that even though sometimes, it looks like choosing to breathe, to show up, to speak, even if the breath itself may be borrowed.. he did so gallantly borrowing scales when he didn't have any and a good one he got at that!
Even after his passing in 2024 at the age of 78, Paul’s story breathes on—through every person who chooses to live fully despite limitation.. he did it like Nike!
A Tribute to Mr Alexander popularly known as Polio Paul:
"Seventy-Eight Salute:Seventy-eight years, lungs wrapped in steel,
Yet you lived with a fire no metal could seal.
Each breath you took, a sermon in grace,
A man confined—yet winning the race.
You couldn’t run, yet soared in mind,
And left iron bars and fear behind.
A pen between teeth, yet words so wide,
You taught us to lead from the quiet side.
Not a martyr, not a myth,
Just a man with courage and iron will beneath.
Seventy-eight candles—we carry your flame and ever so courageous you made each year so.
