How we do dinner

Jan 24, 2024

I don't like choosing what we have for dinner.
Neither does my husband.
Tragically, with no other grownups in the house, it IS up to us.
But we genuinely hate it.
So what do we do?

We do it all at once, for the month.

We have a calendar that has columns for each person in our family,
and dinner gets a column.
We dig out our cookbooks
and the one we made ourselves
by printing recipes we like
and start choosing meals.

We only ever make meals
that last either two or three days;
most we use the crockpot for.

We also schedule in one off meals,
like frozen meals, frozen pizzas,
or going out to eat.

And then we try to stick to the schedule.

Sometimes we go out to eat when something else is on the schedule,
then get right back to it the next day.

Deciding once a month is the least painless way for us to do it,
and making meals we eat for two or three days in a row
saves us a ton of time.

How do you plan for dinner?
What are some of your favorite places to find recipes?

We love Gimme Some Oven!

Stay intentional,
Kathy Ellen
