12 Advice that I would give to my Younger Self.
1. Focus only on one thing and remove everything else. It's the easiest way to succeed in life. In the wise words of Swami Vivekananda (Indian monk and philosopher)
"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life; dream of it; think of it; live on that idea. Let the brain, the body, muscles, nerves, and every part of your body be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, and this is the way great spiritual giants are produced."
2. Remove all the clutter from your life.
3. Plan your life, not in terms of 1 year or 2 years but plan your life in terms of 10 years and 20 years. The man who is prepared has his battle half fought. period.
4. Find a mentor and work on your listening skills. The biggest mistake I made is
"I was simply too cool to find a mentor."
Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.
5. Your Arrogance and your Ego will be your downfall. If you become aware of your ego the world will fall at your feet.
6. Happiness is not a destination it's the path that we take every day. Learn to celebrate all the little things in life.
7. Make your life as simple as possible. Happiness is best friends with simplicity. Simplicity is a sign of profound intelligence and profound happiness.
8. Focus on the Quality of your Relationships and not on Quantity.
"A friend to all is a friend to none"
9. Listen to your dad, He knows what he is talking about. In the wise words of Mark Twain (father of American Literature)
"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years."
10. Hard work will not solve anything if you don't have a clear vision. Make your vision so clear that your fears become irrelevant. Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.
11. Success is nothing but your ability to tolerate failure. Failure is not an obstruction to your goals, it's a stair filled with thorns, yes it hurts but it takes you one step higher towards your goals.
12. Learn to enjoy the process because when you fall in love with the process results don't matter. Just take one day at a time and make the most out of it.
