Episode 41 - Albert Einstein

Jul 30, 2022

In this post, I am gonna talk about a boy who was born on the 14th of March 1879 in Germany. He excelled at math and physics from a very young age. The 12-year-old boy taught himself Algebra and Euclidean geometry over a single summer. He also independently discovered his original proof of the Pythagorean theorem and at the age of 14, he mastered calculus.

In 1897, at the age of 17, he enrolled in the mathematics and physics teaching diploma program at the Swiss federal polytechnic school in Zurich.

So far so good. Now the adversity begins.

He graduated in 1900 but he was not able to get a job because he used to cut classes and his professors thought he is a goof-off. During this time, he even thought about switching fields and selling insurance. (remember this part)

He thought he was such a loser that he wrote a letter to his family saying that

"it would be better if perhaps he was never born" (remember this part as well)

He worked as a substitute teacher in various towns. His father (an engineer) wrote a letter to a very famous professor and asked him whether he could use his son as a research assistant but there were no positions available. So, His father passes away, thinking that his son is a total disgrace and a failure to the family. (remember this as well)

In 1902, he was very depressed and moved to Bern, Switzerland and begins a job as a patent clerk in the Swiss patent office.

In 1905, he published 4 visionary papers and eventually the world recognised his genius. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the photoelectric effect and He was named the TIME magazine's "Person of the Century" in 1999.

That man was Albert Einstein, the greatest physicist of all time and the father of Modern Physics.

My point is simple, Success is nothing but your ability to tolerate failures. All the greats throughout history have failed countless times and as they say "The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried."

So never, never and never give up on your dreams. Keep Working hard and have patience because "Nature doesn't hurry and yet everything is accomplished"
