The Rebel Strain of Pointer

Jul 09, 2021

My interest pretty much starts here with my own line of dogs. My female is sired by CH. Miller’s Blindsider, back to CH. Just Irresistible , to CH. Double Rebel Sonny.

On the bottom side, her dam, Riverton’s Funseek’n Annie reaches back from 2007 Nat. CH Funseeker’s Rebel way back to where my curiosity lands, CH. Greenbriar Buckboard.

As if “Greenbriar” wasn’t already significant enough in my life.

So CH. Greenbriar Buckboard, sired by CH. Buckboard, who was sired by CH. A Rambling Rebel on the top side. On the bottom end is where we find STREAMLINER and BACONRIND’S SANDY.

It’s so dope to me to be able to trace my dogs that far back.

The photos were sent to me from my friend and mentor Bud Moore, and I’ve been connecting the dots since diving into the book, Cov by John Criswell. This then spurred my interest and calling toward this strain of dogs. From there, I’ve conducted interviews with field trial historian and author Steeple Bell and legendary scout and handler, David Johnson to compile a series of narratives that help inform the history of my own line of dogs and make the history of American field trials in its hey day more real and tangible to better my understanding and practice.
