Greetings, dear pond supporters! I'm writing to you from the annual AllWriters' Workplace & Workshop retreat. Day three of the retreat has begun and I'm excited to report that it has been a very productive and educational retreat so far. I'm writing about the retreat at Technicolor Lily Pond and will update my writing progress there. Right now I'm going to share squirrel photography.
Yesterday, I was writing outside and hugging a giant maple tree as per usual when I noticed that the tree had an occupant.

As I wrote, this squirrel circled me, observing me at surprisingly close range. I realize the squirrels are probably acclimated to people but usually squirrels don't get that close. Naturally, I took a few minutes to photograph the squirrel.

I have never gotten such a picture of a squirrel grooming its fur. I like how the paw just disappears into the plush of the fur.

I have always thought squirrels were fun to watch. The way their wrists can rotate to climb up or down a tree, the staccato hops they do have a distinct rhythm, and I'm fascinated by the incredible camoflage the Eastern Grey Squirrels have evolved to match their habitat. I plan to share more spot-the-squirrel photos next time.
Do you have any close encounters of the squirrel kind, dear pond supporters? Any fun summer stories to share? Please leave a comment or question below and thank you for supporting Technicolor Lily Pond.
