Hello everyone,
I’m thrilled to share the evolution of my beloved Blueberry Muffin flavor. These recipes have been crafted and refined from 2015 to 2022. Each version holds a special place in my journey. Enjoy these in chronological order!
The Original
One of my earliest "winners," this recipe marked my first successful dessert flavor developed for traditional sub-ohm devices back in 2015.
Signature Recipe:
Recipe Notes:
The blueberry flavor is quite faint, so I used it at a high 10%. To balance it, I also had to increase the Cheesecake Graham Crust, which can be harsh at higher percentages. Ethyl Maltol helps smooth out the throat hit. Despite the haphazard development, this flavor became a favorite and was my first all-day-vape dessert. It has a light, balanced taste with a nice throat hit, and it significantly boosted our brand's popularity.
Blueberry Muffin Salt: V1
This version was developed for custom JUUL pods and worked well in Caliburn devices too.
Blueberry Muffin Salt Recipe:
Recipe Notes:
I initially adjusted the original signature recipes to create this salt version. It performed well, but as I gained more experience, I decided to start fresh with the Blueberry Muffin salt, leading to the creation of our "Handcrafted" line.
Handcrafted Blueberry Muffin: V2
This version was a more streamlined and simplified approach.
Blueberry Muffin (Eiffel 65) Recipe:
Recipe Notes: I cut out many elements from previous trials, perhaps simplifying it too much. The Cinnamon Sugar didn't quite meet my expectations, but the Hangsen Blueberry was a standout. Unfortunately, sourcing it became too costly, prompting yet another revision. I was pretty sick of working on Blueberry Muffin, my naming for my recipe attempts got very repetitive.. As you can see, "Final" didn't actually mean final on this one😂
Handcrafted Blueberry Muffin: The Final Version
Combining years of experience and countless trials, this final version aims for a well-rounded and ambitious flavor profile.
Blueberry Muffin (Muff 5) Recipe:
Recipe Notes: This recipe incorporates Inawera's Lemon Cake for a subtle bready-ness, reducing reliance on Cheesecake w/ Graham Crust and Cinnamon Sugar. Forest Fruit adds depth to the berry note, making the blueberry flavor more full-bodied. Boysenberry brings brightness, and the layered ingredients create a complex, well-rounded flavor.
Flavor Breakdown:
Blueberry:
Top Note: Boysenberry (VT)
Middle Note: Blueberry Extra (CSL)
Bottom Note: Forest Fruit (FA)
Muffin:
Top Note: Cinnamon Sugar (CSL)
Middle Note: Cheesecake w/ Graham Crust (PUR)
Bottom Note: Lemon Cake (INW)
Reflecting on this journey:
It's incredible to see how my recipes have evolved, much like the stories shared in my previous posts about Nana Custard and Rainbow Candy. Each flavor tells a story of creativity, perseverance, and passion. From the early days of experimenting with simple ingredients to the refined and sophisticated blends I created during the last few years of TBD, it's been an adventure of learning and growth. Your support and feedback have been invaluable in this process. I hope these recipes bring you as much joy as they have brought me in creating them.
Thank you for being a part of this flavorful journey.
