A Message To The Community ☕

May 01, 2024

Regrettably, due to the actions of PrinceAlbert, better known as Noor Nahas from PopcornRP, Scully, and the many years of several individuals uploading RPEmotes for financial gain, I have been compelled to restrict access to it behind a paywall. While this is unfortunate for those who, like myself once believed in open source and full transparency, and while the code remains accessible through various forks, the project's fruition owes much to the supportive community.

A primary concern arises from the frequent reuploads with minimal alterations to the name or content. While I acknowledge lacking legal ownership of the name 'RPEmotes', I do feel a personal connection to it as a departure from DPemotes, originally developed by DullPear.

Similar issues extend to my other projects, such as CayoImprovements and CayoTwoIslands, where PrinceAlbert's work is minimal, lacking a severe case of differentiation . His limited involvement in mapping and coding exacerbates this challenge.

Despite the proliferation of menus built upon RPEmotes, I understand such developments are beyond my control. Feedback regarding the outdated UI has been noted, though transitioning away from it proves daunting given my familiarity and expertise limitations.

I firmly believe that as long as due credit is given to all contributors, including those involved in DPEmotes, RPEmotes, and associated animation and prop creators, conflicts can be mitigated.

While I intend to maintain the official RPEmotes and preserve its name, I strongly encourage others to devise unique identifiers and features for their projects. While emulation of certain functionalities is inevitable, outright replication undermines innovation and individuality.

It is worth noting, albeit publicly known, that I am permanently banned from all Cfx.re services. Despite this, I urge individuals like Scully and PrinceAlbert to move forward respectfully. Everyone is entitled to pursue their emote menus, provided proper attribution is given, and originality is preserved.

Live long and prosper,

Tay McKenzie.
