Homestead home of Cyrille Monette (Alexandre Boisvert) and Odile Bouin dit Dufresne

Date range: 1886-1887

Location: Monetteville, Ontario

The text below the photo reads:

"Above photo shows the original homestead house Cyrille Monette built for his family in 1886-1887. The first log house is located in the centre of the photo showing additions added later. The addition on the front housed the first Post Office in the vast wilderness area between Lake Nipissing and French River Village located over seventy miles west, at the mouth of the French River.

Cyrille and Odile are standing in the centre of photo. Their son Alfred is standing between the team of horses with other members of the family standing behind him on the porch, their names are unknown.

The house was located where Fryer's lumbermill is today."
